Binance Delisting Kadena (KDA) — What Happened and Current Options

5 min readLast updated By Kadena Wallet team

Binance moved Kadena (KDA) to withdrawal-only status in late 2025 and ended the withdrawal window on January 12, 2026. As of 2026-05-07, KDA is no longer accessible on Binance for trading, deposit, or withdrawal. Users who held KDA on Binance and did not withdraw before the January 12 deadline have had limited recourse beyond contacting Binance support directly.

Timeline

Late 2025. Binance announced Kadena would move to withdrawal-only status. Trading pairs were progressively reduced; new deposits were halted.

Late 2025 – early January 2026. Withdrawal-only period: users could withdraw KDA to self-custody wallets or to other exchanges. Deposit and trading functions were closed.

January 12, 2026. Withdrawal-only period ended. KDA balances on Binance after this date became inaccessible through standard withdrawal channels.

Post-January 12, 2026. KDA is fully removed from Binance. Users with remaining balances must contact Binance support directly; outcomes have varied.

Why Binance delisted KDA

Binance does not publish detailed rationales for individual delisting decisions. Public reasons typically cited include reduced trading volume, concerns about token issuer's operational status, liquidity quality, compliance considerations, and periodic portfolio review.

The Kadena Foundation's October 21, 2025 dissolution likely contributed; multiple other major exchanges (OKX, Bybit) made similar decisions on similar timelines.

If you withdrew before January 12, 2026

If you withdrew KDA to a self-custody wallet (Kadena Wallet, eckoWALLET, Koala, Zelcore) or to another exchange (MEXC, Gate.io) before the deadline, no further action is required.

If you missed the January 12, 2026 deadline

This is the harder case. The honest options are limited.

Step 1: Contact Binance support directly. Submit a ticket explaining your situation. Outcomes have varied — some users have reported successful manual withdrawals after the deadline; others have not. The process is generally slow.

Step 2: If Binance support does not provide a resolution. Beyond Binance's internal support process, options are limited. In some jurisdictions, depending on the size of the holding and local consumer protection law, escalation to financial regulators may be available.

What does NOT work

  • Recovery services that claim to retrieve funds from delisted exchange accounts. These are scams. The same scam pattern targets users in this situation as targets lost-wallet users; see Wallet recovery.
  • Posting publicly on social media without first attempting Binance's support process — public posts attract scammers offering "help" via DM.
  • Sending more crypto to "verify" your account or "unlock" the funds. This is always a scam, regardless of who appears to be requesting it.

What happens to KDA balances Binance still holds

Centralized exchanges typically aggregate user balances of delisted assets in custodial wallets. Binance's specific handling of remaining KDA balances after January 12, 2026 has not been publicly detailed beyond the general delisting communications.

Lessons for future delisting events

Delisting announcements typically include a withdrawal window. Major exchanges generally do not zero-balance users with no warning.

The window is finite. Withdrawal-only periods are usually weeks, not months. Plan to withdraw early in the window.

Self-custody removes this risk. Funds in a self-custody wallet are not subject to exchange delisting decisions.

Frequently asked questions

Did Binance delist all of Kadena?
Yes. Spot trading was discontinued before the withdrawal-only period began; deposits were halted; withdrawals were available for a defined period that ended January 12, 2026.
Can I still see my KDA balance on Binance?
The visibility of historical balances may persist in account history; the funds themselves may not be withdrawable through standard channels.
Did Binance refund users for delisted KDA?
No general refund program was announced. Individual outcomes from contacting support have varied.
Why did other exchanges delist KDA at the same time?
The Kadena Foundation dissolution in October 2025 was a contributing factor for multiple major exchanges' delisting decisions in the same period.
Is there a class-action lawsuit against Binance over the delisting?
We are not aware of one specific to KDA delisting as of 2026-05-07. We do not solicit participation in any such matter.
Where can I move KDA now if I have it elsewhere?
MEXC and Gate.io continue to support KDA. See Exchanges.
